This December, Kid Stuff will be two years old.
A lot of changes have happened here since the site first popped onto the scene.
For those of you who don't know, Kid Stuff started life out in 1998 as "There's A Boogieman In My Closet",
a yahoo group and later a site dedicated to kids fears and nightmares. It contained mostly single photo manips or CGI pictures
depicting scenes of this genre.
Later, I decided to try my hand at making some comic strip style stories in CGI fashion along with the single
pics, and from this came the site "Heroes and Nightmares" Unfortunately, that site met an early demise due to a server breakdown.
Deciding to change to a site server (as opposed to Yahoo or MSN or AOL etc) to have better control, I started
"The Bumps" which was nothing but CGI stories revolving around horror.
Then one day in 2004, a neat thing happened that changed the direction of The Bumps and my work in general.
A boy named Jarred, the son of a couple of friends of mine, agreed to try posing in front of a video game to try a little
experiment in photo manippng a story. The result was "Jarred vs The Video Game", and ultimately the birth of Incredible Adventures.
I combined The Bumps and Incredible Adventures to create "Kid Stuff",and the rest, as they say, is history.
By now, you are probably wondering where this is leading. Well, since that day more kids have joined up
to star in photo manip comics (what I call Photocomics) and the cast has grown quite large. Twenty One kids as of this writing.
Now granted, I write the stories, do the computer work, post the photocomics and so forth..... But
the real stars in all of this are the Cast Members.
They spend their time and energy posing for long sessions to make these comics, and to make them believeable.
It is hard work and can take hours. These kids have to "sell" every scene, so when a scene calls for them to be scared, they
LOOK scared... or happy, angry, confused etc. In expression and in body language. They have to pose and sometimes contort
to make a scene like falling, or being carried off by a bird or fighting a monster look real.
It ain't easy to do. Try it sometime.
Now to the point.
These photocomics are made available to you at no charge. You have the option of donating to the site to
help keep the site running.... but now it's time to show these kids that you appreciate all of their hard
work.
Therefore, on December the 16th, 2006, I will be holding....

The event will be taking place right here in my complex's large Club House!
There will be food and beverages (duh) and there will be a couple of presentations for my kids, games, a
white elephant gift exchange, random crazyness, and quite possibly a special appearance by Futonicus!
And there will be lots of pics, some of which I will post right here at the site.
But this isn't gonna come cheap, nor should it. I am footing most of the bill to give these kids my personal
thanks! Unfortunately, I am not rich.
If you are regular visitor, or someone who has enjoyed these photocomics and the great
work done by the kids in them, here is your chance to say thank you, too.
I have set up a "Christmas/Holiday Party Donation" setup with PayPal. You can donate to the party to help
make it bigger and better. Any donation sent to the party will GO EXCLUSIVELY TO THE PARTY!! The donations here will not go
to the site .
Any donation to the party is welcome no matter how small.... or large for that matter. And ALL
PEOPLE WHO DONATE will recieve a large, high resolution group photo from the party of all attending cast members and
myself. (Presently, all but 2 members will be there. The 2 members both out of state.)
This is a very important event for the Kid Stuff site, as the plans I have for 2007 are big, and I'm hoping
to have all my Cast Members involved. What's more, there are more kids ready to join up.
So, even if you have never donated to this site, for this event, I ask you all
to please help me make this occation a special one for the real power behind the Kid Stuff site, the Cast Members!!
Use the PayPal link below to make your donation. You can now use credit cards or money transfers. I have
changed banks due to some unresolved issues with my last one, so everything should go through.
